Dilruba literally means "stealer of heartstrings". A fusion of the Sitar from the neck and Sarangi from the base, this bowed instrument is made of wood, hide, and metal. It encompasses a multitude of strings included sympathetics that cause deep resonance well beyond playing a note. Because the Dilruba is bowed, it encourages reflection from its listeners, as notes are continuous and unbroken for long lengths of time. Thus, the sound created varies from that of string instruments which are plucked.
Dilrubas come standard with a nylon bow and fiber glass case.
